The Kona Library Book Club meets Tuesday, May 15th to discuss The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson. Chronicling one of the great untold stories of American history, the decades-long migration of black citizens who fled the South for northern and western cities, in search of a better life, Wilkerson compares this epic migration to the migrations of other peoples in history. From 1915 to 1970, this exodus of almost six million people changed the face of America. This mass migration, unplanned, haphazard and often resented has affected our laws, our politics, and our social relations in all kinds of ways, some for the better, some not. Join us for a lively discussion and light refreshments. New members are welcome.
The Book Club will meet in June to discuss Lost in Shangri-La by Mitchell Zuckoff.
